Sarah gets out all her top ingredients and serves them up farmhouse style for the guests to celebrate all things gorgeous for breakfast at Launceston Farm for Farmhouse Breakfast Week 2012. Sausages from the Middle White pigs, eggs from our rare breed hens, free-range local bacon and, most importantly, absolutely delicious…

Eve, our head gardener, takes on the full-farm brekkie for the team.

New romantic self catering for two

The Bothy is our new romantic, self catering cottage for two. In the converted groom’s quarters attached to Launceston Farmhouse, the Bothy has all the luxuries and comforts of the B&B with the added freedom of being able to come and go as you please. You can access all the Farmhouse facilities – the walled garden, swimming pool etc – but you also have your own private outdoor courtyard complete with bateau bath for a night time soak under the stars or a leisurely morning dip.

We will be opening on February 24th 2012 but we are taking bookings already! Seven night bookings (Friday to Friday) are £560. Shorter breaks are available. Please have a look at our website for more information.

Believe it or not but these photos were taken on a December Saturday at Ringstead Bay – our favourite slice of the Jurassic Coastline – and we were overjoyed to find it nigh on deserted…

Obviously a fantastic time to hit the beach. And why not have a swim?! Loads of people seem to be doing that at this time of year. Ringstead is perfect for a dip with its shallow, sheltered bays. If surfing is your thing, there are opportunities for confident surfers in this area. Tempted? Launceston Farm is only half an hour away.

Not entirely deserted then.

Merry Christmas from everyone at Launceston Farm

Our eggs had on their best smiles on for BBC Homes & Antiques magazine this week who have chosen Launceston Farm to feature in their Christmas issue next year. The house is looking stunning decked out in holy, ivy and mistltoe as well as some favourite foilage forraged from the farm hedgerows – I have no idea what most of it’s called though…If you can identify it from the photos send your answers on a postcard!

Banging time

In response to our Bringing Home the Sausages campaign to find homes for 1,500 of our dangerously delicious organic pork sausages, we are very proud to announce that as well as accompanying some of our lovely guests home to their fridges and freezers, our tasty bangers are now featuring on the menus of some delectable Dorset pubs including The Bull, The True Lovers Knot and The King John. Only 1,134 left to go…

The plot thickens

Sadly our latest two organic middle white pigs were a little bit fat for the local butchers to take on so we have turned them into 1,300 sausages – all of which need a home. So please don’t forget your cool bags and boxes on your next visit and maybe – with your help – we could get the re-homing project on the go…?

With conditions ripe this year for wild mushrooms, Wren and Elfie have been having a ball hunting out all kinds of fungi in the B&B garden. Obviously fancy dress is compulsory for anybody who would like to join in.

Steam Fair gets big thumbs up

With the sunshine beating down, the ice cream and cider were flowing at the Great Dorset Steam Fair this year which partly takes over Launceston Farm for the first week of September. We are therefore inclined to embrace the Steam. The B&B is unsurprisingly booked up two years in advance for this world-famous event so if you want to stay and play make sure you are organised.

Last few places: Farmhouse cookery demos

Using the best ingredients Dorset has to offer, Launceston Farm cookery demo evenings will delight and inspire. The emphasis is on informal and relaxed teaching, balancing practical hands-on learning with observation, eating and drinking.

The setting: Sarah’s farmhouse kitchen at Launceston Farm.

What do we eat? Food and drink will be served throughout the evening and will be in keeping with the theme of the demonstration. You will get to sample delights you have prepared yourself as well as feasting on what has been prepared for you to enjoy. Wine is included in the price.

Who’s in charge? The course will be led by Sue Brown, a cookery instructor with 15 years experience, from the world famous Leith’s Cookery School in London. Sarah will be here to welcome you and top up your bubbly.

Can I bring friends? Yes! For the course to run we need eight people to participate. If we don’t have enough people signed up for the demo to run we will let you know one month prior to the course date. If you are a group of eight people and you can’t make any of these dates but don’t want to miss out we will happily organise a themed cookery demo on a date to suit you (depending on our availability).
